Five Quick Viral Content Tips
So with the great response I’ve had to the viral content article and the short report I put together for you, I thought I would do another quick post again on the topic of viral content. So here you will find my top ten tips on how to help your content go viral.
Oh and if you missed my last post on viral content you can find it here:

Five Tips For Viral Content:
#1 Gain High-Authority Press
This seems like common sense I know, but seriously if you want to be able to get those big authoritative websites to give your content the nod then you need to earn it! Creating the content that could potentially become viral is just the first step, you also need to get it published and promoted. Many people just hope for the best, if you are one of those people then fair warning…it rarely happens that way.
#2 Surprise Is A Game Changer
Seriously, if you can muster surprise in your content then you are golden; surprise is pretty much the lynchpin when it comes to viral content. If you look at viral content as a whole you will find that an extraordinary amount of it is made through surprise of some sort. You need to invoke: curiosity, interest, shock etc. If you find some shocking facts when conducting research let the world know, if it’s good enough it might just make the grade.
#3 Create content which Will Feed A “Viral Loop”
This one is an interesting tip, but it makes sense too. If you already have an audience then why not leverage them into creating the viral content for you, or rather get them to make your content go viral for you. “Viral Looping” happens when your audience generate a new piece of content via engaging with your own. For example have you ever seen the “Face in The Hole” images on Facebook? Or maybe you have seen Jibb Jabb’s “Elf Yourself” which happens at Christmas? Both of those are great at creating viral content from their original content. Try it out!
#4 Create Content That Divides People And Emotions
If you can do this you will have a hot topic on your hands. People LOVE to debate with one another, but they also don’t like to be wrong too. If you can create content that is debatable on a level that is going to cause contrasting emotions with your audience then you will have a great piece of viral content. People love a good argument.
#5 Choose Your Surprised-Based Demographic Well
Studies have shown that younger generations (18-25) have been so heavily saturated in the digital content arena that they aren’t nearly as susceptible as what we are now. Frustrating at times I know but trust me it has been researched. Because of this saturation it is far more difficult to get a rise out of them and so you are much better off targeting another demographic where you stand a fighting chance of making them feel that surprise factor.
There you have it, five quick tips for viral content creation. I do have more and I may very well write up another list this week should I get the chance (and if you would like me too? Let me know in the comments below).
It should be pointed out that making content go viral is not easy and although the ways in which to create viral content are easy, the press and publication aspect is not so easy. Distribution is everything but I am sure you have put up a video on YouTube expecting to get thousands of views, but what happens? Usually nothing. Maybe a few hundred views over a couple of weeks or months but nothing to write home about.
However there are some stealthy ways to get noticed, and I will be telling you about one of them tomorrow so keep your eyes peeled and look out for my next email regarding the WP She’s Viral plugin. You won’t want to miss this one.
As always, here’s to your future success,
